Media Design: Letter to Shape Transformation

This project for my Typography 2 class involved us picking a letter and finished object and to animate a transformation between the two.

I chose to transform the lowercase “j” into a man serving a tennis ball for multiple reasons. Firstly, I decided on “j” because my first
name is Justin, which starts with that letter. I then transformed that into a guy serving a tennis ball because tennis is the sport
that I enjoy and play the most. It has been a big part of my life, and I felt that using the tittle of the lowercase “j” to
turn into the act of throwing a tennis ball into the air was fluid, creative, and exciting. I settled on
Adobe Garamond Pro Bold because the “j” had a prominent tittle and a thick base for
the rest of the letter to transform into a person, with the serifs growing into
arms, splitting into legs, and forming a head.
